Welcome
I know that choosing child care is one of the most important decisions you’ll make for your family. You want a place where your child will feel safe, loved, and supported while also learning, growing, and having fun.
To help you get to know my program better, I’ve answered some of the most common questions parents ask. If you don’t see your question here, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re always happy to talk with you and provide the information you need to feel confident and comfortable.
What ages of children do you care for?
I welcome children from 8 weeks to 5 years old. Each age group has different needs, and I provide activities and routines that match their stage of development—whether that’s tummy time and gentle songs for infants, hands-on learning and play for toddlers, or early learning activities to prepare preschoolers for kindergarten.
What are your hours of operation?
My standard hours are Monday-Friday 7:30am-6:00pm. I understand that every family’s schedule is unique, so I try to be as flexible as possible. If you need care outside of regular hours, I encourage you to talk with me in advance, and we can discuss options together.
How many children do you care for at one time?
One of the biggest benefits of an in-home program is the small group size. I intentionally keep the number of children low so that each child receives individual attention, loving care, and plenty of opportunities to learn and play. This also helps create a cozy, family-like environment where children can build strong bonds with me and with each other.
Do you provide meals and snacks?
Yes! I provide healthy, well-balanced snacks and meals that meet USDA nutrition guidelines. Children are offered fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and kid-friendly proteins. If your child has allergies or special dietary needs, we will work closely together to make sure they always have safe and nutritious options.
Can you assist with potty training?
Absolutely! I have many years of professional experience supporting children through the potty training process. I approach potty training in a positive, encouraging, and patient way, helping children feel confident and supported. I am happy to follow the routine or protocol you already use at home to ensure consistency, or I can work with you to brainstorm strategies that make potty training a success for your child and family.
What does a typical day look like?
Children thrive on routine, but I also allow room for flexibility based on their needs and interests. A typical day includes:
Morning welcome & free play
Circle time (songs, stories, learning games)
Snack & outdoor play
Hands-on activities (art, sensory play, building, or early learning projects)
Lunch & rest/quiet time
Afternoon play (indoor/outdoor, depending on weather)
Wrap-up activities & pick-up
This rhythm provides children with comfort, balance, and a fun mix of learning and play.
What is your illness policy?
For the well-being of all children, I ask that children stay home if they are showing signs of illness such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or contagious infections. They may return once they have been symptom-free for at least 24 hours without medication. This helps protect both your child and the others in care.
Are you licensed or certified?
I am currently in the process of completing the application for certification through the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education. Safety and quality care are my highest priorities, and I am committed to staying current with best practices in childcare.
What is your home set up?
I live in the Larkhaven neighborhood in Charlotte. My home has a designated play area on the first floor that is gated off from the rest of the home. Children will have access to a lovely backyard for daily outside time. I have two sweet cats, Hera and Athena. They are 14 years old and spend the majority of their time hiding behind the couch. My husband works in our home office upstairs. I am happy to set up a tour and meet and greet prior to enrollment so that you can get to know me and my family.
How do you communicate with parents?
Open communication is very important to me. I keep parents updated through daily check-ins, written notes, or photos and messages (depending on your preference). I encourage you to share questions or concerns anytime. I truly believe that the best care happens when parents and caregivers work as a team.
My goal is to create a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment where your child feels at home and your family feels supported.
